you mean stops/coughs over 7ooo rpm?

Has a slipon? I don't think that would cause a rough engine at high rpm. If anything, it should make high rpm smoother.

Is there a Power Commander on the bike or was it flashed?

Hoster at 7000-73000 rpm. Will not higher than that.
No, power commander or flashed.
Could it be a broken coil??
Thanks for answer. :-)

Hoster = rpm limiter? You're saying the rev limiter comes on at 7000 rpm?

this?

It could be that you hit the top speed limiter and now the bike is in what we call "limp mode" which is a low power mode. If a bike is in limp mode, it should go back to normal after switching the key off and then back on again.

The fuel filters have been known to need replacing on these bikes and it is not as easy as removing it from a fuel line. The filter is inside the tank. The fuel filter is a part of the fuel pump but it is possible to get just the filter and replace it. ...or you can replace the whole fuel pump.

You are doing alright with the language..What do you normally speak?
As for the residue from your filter , I can understand it not wanting to run.. That is/was most likely , your problem. How many miles on the motorcycle ? IS it stored during winter?

Hello.
From Norway.
Bike is stored innside 20 C during winter.
Bike 49000 km. ca 30000 miles.
Test drived it to day, is little better, but not good...
Suspect main filter inside plastic housing is also clogged...

I'm about a quarter Fin.

here's some threads that might give you some info.

I know Romans has had experience with changing/cleaning the fuel filters. If you want, I could PM him. He's often pretty busy so it could take a few days.

Rook:

I'm thinking this info might be important to older cycle owners, cycles with hi mileage fuel pumps.

So, what am I seeing here? I can not quite follow the conversation...

It looks like a picture of some sort of "pre-filter", with some greasy dirt in the bottom. I'm looking at the exploded view of the fuel pump and tank parts diagrams, and I do not see anything that appears to be a "...fuel filter that sits in the bottom of the fuel pump".

I think I read that the fuel pump, and it's internal filter, turned out to be OK. By which I think it means the pump output has sufficient pressure to not warrant replacement (something I do not read that he actually measured).

So, what is that picture, above? Is he indicating he replaced this part, and is all OK now?

Thanks for the translation :)

Near as I can tell he is saying that cleaning the pickup screen did not fix the problem. There is apparently a mod where you use a pump(?) or internal screen from a 2007 Z1000 to fix it.
My son's 2003 Z1000 had a intermittent stalling problem. We replaced just the electrical motor on the fuel pump and it seems to have fixed the problem. $60 from ebay with Lifetime Warranty vs $360 from Bikebandit for a pump assembly.
I would be interested in any mods that would allow replacing or cleaning the internal filter in the pump.

I've never had to clean or replace my fuel filter yet. From what i have been told, there is a screen pre-filter and there is the actual filter that is not supposed to be replaceable unless you replace the whole fuel pump. The actual filter in the fuel pump has been replaced however. Check out the links I posted previously on this thread.

The actual filter in the fuel pump has been replaced however. Check out the links I posted previously on this thread.

1st thread above indicates Mav never replaced the internal filter. His mate got a new OEM pump, and he installed that. He was gonna use a Plastic Weld to re-seal it, and never tried that. I bought the external "sock" p/n indicated, and determined it would not fit the 14R. Some may have tried since, the thread is silent on that aspect.

2nd thread indicates the fellow opened the pump and removed the internal filter, then "re-sealed" it, never describing with what, or how he did that.

3rd thread indicates the fellow replaced the fuel pump, and fixed his issues. No reference to removing and / or replacing the internal fuel filter. That fellow confirmed the pictured external "sock" filter does not fit the 14R.

So, I conclude that someone, somewhere, may have replaced the internal filter by opening and resealing the fuel pump. The methods of successfully resealing the pump, or the products used to do that, are not described in any thread.

I have yet to see a thread with a p/n of the external "sock" that fits the 14R. So, far, NADA.

That's why this fellow's info was so interesting to me. Apparently, he may have R+R'ed the internal pump filter, and I was asking for details. So far: NADA.

Yeah, there is an external pick up screen that can be replaced. Our pump motor came with a new one. There is another filter inside the plastic body of the pump. Sealed and not replaceable. Although I've heard of some guy that cut the housing open and cleaned the filter then glued or plastic welded it back together. Sounds like a big pain to me.

I have not yet seen the correct part number for the replaceable external "sock", that will fit the '12+ 14R.

I bought the previously posted part number, and (via part diagram detailed views) determined it don't fit. It likely *does* fit the previous gen ZX14's, but not the '12+ 14R fuel pumps.

If you have access to the correct part, as an after market purchase, please tell us what that is.

Thanks,

We got the new pickup screen with the new pump motor. I don't have a part number but, at least on the Z1000, it was an exact match for the stock screen. The same company sells motors for the ZX14. Put"ZX14 Fuel pump" in the search window. Our motor was made in Germany. I guess you could contact some of the companies and ask if they would just sell the screen.
