ABS ALT Delete Front only, keeping rear ABS active.
07/21/26 4:18 PM

I hope some of this is readable and makes sense ,
I just pasted here what I wrote in my youtube
video 'Description block'

''This video shows what I did to delete the ABS for my front brakes,
while allowing the rear abs to continue working.''
--
When finished with this project the instrument cluster
notifications remain in proper working function with
no error codes or warning notices.
It is very likely that if I repeat the procedure at the
rear brake assembly, I'll have the same result; No
issues with instrument cluster 'faults' all-normal.
--
Parts used;
2 M10 1.0MM inverted couplings O'Reilly's
2 M10 1.0MM stainless 'plugs' with cu crush washers Amzn
1 36'' + - braided brake line amzn
1 28'' + - braided brake line amzn
I was short 1 10mm banjo bolt crush washer, may
have lost it or could be there was just not enough
for the project.
I was able to use the long crossover banjo bolt
at the master cylinder, so I didn't need to order one.
DISCLAIMER; ABS can save your life, so I do not
recommend anyone try this, however
there are instances and occasions where
some of us do not want ABS.

Plugged brake lines, and original line interface blocks that
I removed from the bike;

These are the plugs that I fitted into the inverted flare brake line couplers;

Double banjo bolt junction, using the longer bolt that used to hold the
two lines to the right side caliper, where one is the jumper to the
left side caliper;

Right side Caliper;

Alt ABS Delete

Front ABS Bypass, keep rear ABS

Apologies for the massively huge videos, I can shrink these later
if that helps the forum bandwidht useage, if that's an issue.

Also @rook or @Hub , could someone explain to me how to
properly link a youtube video, so that the Thumbnail shows.

Down at the bottom of the page above is a direct link to it but
it's not real obvious that it goes to my youtube video and of course
no thumbnail.

I posted a video recently and you could see it. I guess i remembered how to do it from when Hub told me.

Go to Youtube and copy the url of your video.

Go to your comment on the forum and type these tags:

[yutub][/yutub]

...only thing, spell youtube correctly in the tags you type. If I had spelled youtube correctly, those would have become actual youtube tags and they would have been invisible in this post.

So you have your youtube tags, paste your url between the tags

[yutub]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=izxWw343zj4[/youtub]

Last step, cut watch? and turn v= into v/

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=izxWw343zj4

like this:

[yutub]]https://www.youtube.com/v/izxWw343zj4[/youtub]

Click the reply button. It's so much fun!

I don't think your video is too long. It's for information, not entertainment.

If anything, it would be nice to hear ac simple explanation as to why it works if you're a hundred percent sure.

Seems all you needed to do is to block the lines from the ABS pump. The OEM brake pressure came from the MC to the ABS pump, to the RH brake caliper which supplies pressure to the left caliper. Divert lines from the MC directly to the calipers, cap the lines from the ABS pump so it holds fluid. The MC functions like a non-ABS brake system now. The ABS pump always detects neutral pressure (brakes not applied). The ABS sensor still sends wheel rotation data to the ECU. Even if the ECU receives front wheel lock data, the ABS pump is not connected to the front brakes so ABS couldn't intervene even if wanted to. Further, ABS is probably sending a signal to the ECU that the front brake isn't applied at all so probably, the ECU won't trigger the ABS system even if it does detect wheel lock.

Im just surmising, the only part of the ABS system I understand for sure is the ABS sensor that detects wheel lock. If the ECU knows or cares if the brake is applied, IDK. The ECU detects wheel lock from the ABS sensor, the ECU might trigger the ABS pump even though the ABS pump isn't connected to the front brakes anymore. If that happens, there's no pressure in the ABS pump to control.

it would be nice to hear ac simple explanation as to why it works if you're a hundred percent sure.

You may want to skip what I've written below lol,
the long and short of it is that; I do not know.

I'm not yet sure why it works, my hunch so far,
is/was that if there is pressure in the abs sensor via
the closed front loop, the abs ecu would assume it needn't intervene.
As for a simple guess on what makes abs work is some
nature of a looped two-way valve that is able to
divert pressure from a single line to front and
single line to rear to some kind of open loop where
the pressure is diverted to, to relieve that
pressure heading to the calipers, at a very rapid rate,
based on a pressure to wheel speed ratio.
Further, it would seem that the front wheel abs action
would need to be based on the rear sensored-speed
vs the front wheel rotational speed, and visa versa,
so when the front wheel rotational speed with bike
traveling at 60mph notices the rear wheel starting
to decrease to say 10mph, it steps in and doesn't
let the rear wheel drop too much below that, (that
10mph checkpoint could actually be 20 or 30mph depending
in the mapping of the abs ecu, and for abs to release,
and visa versa , back to front.
I other words the speed of the opposite wheel compared
to the locking up potential is what makes the decision
to release pressure in the wheel that's getting close
to lock up. Kind of related to how KTRC works , with
the exception that krtc is only applied to rear
wheel action.
I would imagine it's much more complicated than this
and I probably have it all wrong anyway... :smi
So yeah, basically, I have no clue.
As to the fuses and why warning lights are not an issue now,
I'll mess with them when the weather cools a bit,
and see what I can determine 'there' if anything.

Thanks, I'm easily lost in reading explanations, if I
could see the or a complete finished works or
a youtube url that works here I would definitely
get it, I've been through similar on other sites
in the past.
If it was a complete finished 'works' with maybe
a space between youtube and the .com part, I believe
it would be visible as an instructional piece here,
and then I'd know of course, to remove the space when
actually using a youtube url, and
could also save that 'format' instruction in a
folder for later referral.

The youtube url for your video works here. Sorry, made a double closing bracket in the first tag I wrote above.

here's what you type to post your video:

[yutub]https://www.youtube.com/v/izxWw343zj4[/youtub]

spell yutub, "youtube" in the tags. Cut watch? from the url. Change v= to v/

[youtube]https://www.youtube.com/v/izxWw343zj4 and then make you end tag with /youtube in the brackets.

The youtube url for your video works here

Could you cut n paste the complete url that would
be inserted in the forum's url/link box?
It won't take us to the video, but I'll be able to
see the differences between it
and what I was using or trying to use.

Could you cut n paste the complete url that would
be inserted in the forum's url/link box?

You must have already done that. You created the url link called "Alt ABS Delete" in the opening post of this thread. I just used that link to go to Youtube and copied the url from the box at the top of my browser. You musthave done the same thing since you made the link in the OP.

Here it is:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=izxWw343zj4

If you want to embed that video here, make the youtube /youtube tags with the brackets. Paste your url between the tags. cut watch? from your url ....change v= to v/ in your url ....hit REPLY button. Done.

You wanna go through this step by step? First make your youtube tags in your next reply. no url, just the tags. Hit REPLY. The tags should be invisible in your reply. If that happens that's normal. If we see the tags, you did something wrong.

Here' I'll do it...

^^^you don't see anything up there do you. That's because it's tags, you see them when you type them in the message box but they're invisible when posted. Do that and then we'll proceed to step 2.

Here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=izxWw343zj4

I pasted this /\ /\ in our website's URL box and it still didn't imbed.
I'm not able to decipher your steps to get my url/link imbedded;

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=izxWw343zj4&t=8s&pp=0gcJCaMLAYcqIYzv

I can very easily see the changes you made with this;
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=izxWw343zj4

But it isn't imbedding, the instruction;
add this, change, that, delete this,
loses all translation by the time my 3 brain cells
make their feeble attempts to digest it.

If you would show me the complete finished link version that you inserted
into the URL box, I would see/get the differences right-quick.

Hi I'm Stratovarious. Heres my video:

[ytb]https://www.youtube.com/v/izxWw343zj4[/ytb]

do that. Spell Youtube as it should be spelled. Cut watch? change v= to v/

Capitslize Youtube if you want or don't capitalize it. It works either way.

It doesn't work for me either. Quit using the url box. I used to use it. Its a whole lot better to do this:

[ytb]https://www.youtube.com/v/izxWw343zj4[/ytb]

Try it, man! Forget the url box ever existed. Just type it.

I type the youtube tags in my message:

[ytb][/ytb]

I paste my url in the tags:

[ytb]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mUV2vOnUsYs[/ytb]

I cut watch? and I turn v= into v/

[ytb]https://www.youtube.com/v/mUV2vOnUsYs[/ytb]

Now I'm going to copy the above and spell youtube the way it's spelled:

Go ahead and do that. Don't use the url box.

Yeah, I listen to an 80s station any time I'm in my truck and they've been playing that one lately. I think Foreigner had more of a straightforward rock sound I associate more with the 70s and the transition into the 80s. The 80s was just everything mixed together. Anything goes in the 80s, there sure was a variety of trends in popular culture all going on at once. Well Strat, I was wondering where you were, haven't heard a peep out of you in a couple weeks. I'm going for a nice ride on the new busa around noon today. I think I'm going to have to do a second gear full throttle pull to 8000 rpm before autumn sets in. That sure was a surprise on the 14R, maybe something similar will happen with the busa. I've touched 7000 a couple times but only at partial throttle. ...think I have about 350 miles on the bike now.

Yeah, true Foreigner got an early start, as did Zeppelin,
they were both good enough (zep greatest of all time imv G O A T)
I was a much bigger fan of the original lineup and singer 2 was
as good, but imv, today's line up is just a great tribute band,
I'm not bowled over as they say.

Wow, Busa magic, today, let me/us know how that goes, I got a chance
to wind up the 14r yesterday for just a few seconds, exhilarating
for sure.
Busa 350 + - miles;
Gotta seat those valves! :shrugs: I hear people say to
ignore break in recommendations and run hard so the valves
seat well.
I don't know if they're full of @@@t though, one way or the other.
--
My avg mileage was stuck on 39.9 for a few days, that concerned me
regarding my abs operation, lol, wondering if maybe what I did
upset the cpu (or) somehow, then yesterday it went to
40mpg... I just haven't been riding all that much lately.

Busa 350 + - miles;

LOL it was at 301 miles when I started it up this afternoon. I haven't been riding a lot either but I get out for a fun ride as often as I can. I had to get back and get dinner started so I pretty much forgot about the full throttle pull to 8000 rpm. I hit 7 a few times, light on the throttle coming out of my favorite turn. The chicken strips are still about an inch and a half! Very soft edges too. Oh well, I'm playing it cool with the new bikes. I can't fathom crashing another bike, I think that might do my motorcycle hobby right in. Too much money and time to turn into a junk heap.

I don't know either. All I know is a redline brake in on my Gen2 Hayabusa didn't hurt it. The valves are one thing but the cylinders are another. From what I hear, the wear pattern is set within the first 50 miles. However you ran the engine in the first hour of operation, it will run more smoothly under the same conditions in the future. Of course, most of who will do a high rpm break in are going to do it once in the first 50 miles and probably ride the bike normally 90% of the time for the rest of the bike's life. I find it a little hard to believe the wear pattern of a five minute break in running up to redline is going to obviate the wear pattern caused by years of normal street riding that follow. My feeling is have fun and ride it like you ride. If you need to be sure you have those extra one or two peak horsepower, get the cylinders re-honed someday and make it a dedicated track bike that only runs hard and never gets operated on the street.

I'd be surprised if the ECU would effect the avg mileage because of the ABS block-off. As far as your ECU knows, the bike is running normally and the front brake isn't being used. Nah, it's just infrequent riding. I seem to recall the average fuel economy changing often when my Gen1 was new. Of course, the current fuel economy was being compared to an average fuel economy that was based on a fairly small number of miles. As miles accumulate, theres a huge backlog of average fuel economy. The current fuel economy isn't going to impact that number very quickly. At least that's what i think. I noticed my average fuel economy didn't change much after i got a reasonable number of miles on the bike. I'm not sure the average fuel economy ever resets and if it does, it probably retains the history of the last 500 miles at least.

I didn't think it would either, but then I didn't figure on it being
a fluid issue etc, nothing else I could come up with other than some
type of sensor somewhere in the system triggered something else.
I went from riding about 100 to 200 miles/day to about 12, so
when I saw it finally change a tenth of mile avg, it all made sense.

I'm here in my mones. I can't change no can't change i can't change my mones.

Is this a song about hormones? It was always one of my favs. The 90s were the best years of my life. I was completely broke but life was never better. If I could have become just a little less broke, I'd have kept doing it. The economy sure was great but somehow, I still ended up broke.

EDIT; I thought this might be a violin, I guess it's an bow and arrow....
