The casting of the swing arm has to be perfect or so close to a 1/16th of a mm.

The casting of the swing arm then 'is' to a sixteenth of a mm,
or is 'should be' .
Would that mean that some of us get inaccurate swing arms,
or that they throw out the ones that don't meet tolerance checks?

I suppose measuring
to the flat edge of the 'carriers' might be
more exacting in such a case.

You can measure the thickness of the bot heads and you can measure the length of the threads. That's about as much as you can do.

I'm pretty sure I've noticed my bike pull to the right slightly too. Might this be the pitch of the road? It was graded to shed water.

My feeling is they all came out of a mold and they're all virtually identical.

I've always tested using both sides of the road, due to runoff-grading,
the bike stabilizes 'somewhat' on the opposite side of the road,
but doesn't hint at veering to the left, and I test in varying
wind conditions, changing directions as well on 'same' roads.

The engine is positioned to the right in the frame too. The weigh distribution of the engine may shift the center of gravity enough to cause the bike to lean a tiny bit to the right. That could be something all owners are compensating for with steering without even being aware of it.

Could be, I did an AI search yesterday, and the consensus seemed to be
1. No, the ZX14R should not veer.
2. Yes, but it is due to runoff. (discredited imv, for anyone that tested
both sides of the road under 'like' conditions
and still has the 'veering to the right' on opposite slopes in the same road,
though I bet very few riders have done this particular test)

I have my rear wheel as close to matched as I think I can get them,
going by the hash marks and measuring bolt lengths.
Looking at the chain on the rear sprocket
there is space between the left side of the chain and the left side
of the sprocket, is that normal? The chain in other words favors
migrating to the left, so it's not centered.

I've never noticed if my chain liked one side better than the other. Have a look at the sprocket to see if it's worn more on one side than the other (where the inner plates pass over the sides of the teeth.)
