Thanks Werks...ya...I think it was just battery voltage. My 07...when it wasn't cranking out quite enough power...it would have the RED DFI lamp come on...and start flashing.Been my experience that if these don't fire like after one or two revolutions....it's normally the battery is just a shade too low...even though it may be showing like 12 something volts...until it gets up to like 12.8 or so.They are finicky when it comes to battery power;)Like my 07...once that lamp came on at startup...if it wasn't cranking strong enouh...that lamp would remain on until I cycled the key off and back on...but nothing was actually wrong...
IDK about yours...but mine has an EVAP canister on it...with a 'purge valve' unit.I don't care where it was destined for from the factory...but these models with the evap's are listed as California and South East Asia...B-1's they're classed as.Long as it works...I'm okay with it;)I haven't gotten the 'whistle' from the tank from venting yet...so maybe the evap is a good thing? But I did hear it doing something the other night when I was just 'going over' things on it.I hadn't fired it up or anything...so guess the heat from my hands on the tank warmed the fuel up or something...Definitely sounded like it was venting into that evap.Unfortunately, the manual mentions nothing about the purge valve operation or the canister operation...except that it routes back into the combustion chamber. But it does have a sensor in the circuit somewhere along it's route.
I'll see on next fire-up what she does. That lamp hasn't come on while riding...so that's good.
