The only thing I don't like is the lack of places on the back to hook bungee cords. Remember when the ZX had the flip-up hooks on each side, wish they would bring those back, they were clean AND functional!!!

I ordered 2 15" nets, one black with plastic hooks (2") and one ~Kawi green. My plan was to use both, the green for looks and black for better coverage. I quickly discovered as you did Rkt, there was simply no way to hook the net on without probably damaging body work.
So I took the hooks off the green one and wrapped it around the passenger seat. I can stow small items, like lunch or very small packages but nothing like a helmet or shoe box. Can't put on the cowl though, although I like how the net looks.

If you replaced the lic plate holder/rear fender with an "eliminator"; then, yeah, there's no place to hook a bungee or the net hooks.
If you left the bike stock in that regard, then bungees and net hooks go down around the reflector tabs or onto the lic plate bracket and secure the rear of the net and soft luggage quite well.
The square rails under the seat easily accept the hooks for the front or you can pick-up the peg hardware, etc up front.
This has worked for me for 15 k miles. Always have a net or a bag/bags on the back or both depending on the length of the trip and the 'stuff' I need to carry.
Easy decision for me, since I don not like the naked asshole look of the eliminators and I appreciate the function of the fender. Besides, everyone and their bro has a sport bike naked asshole look; why do I want to blend in with all the little sport bikes?
Cheers

The one thing I don't like about my bike is that the casing and the cylinders are all one piece.

I also like the stock rear fender.

I have the stock fender, as most of you seem to I like the look of it on this bike. The modern 600s-1000s really look weird because the fender is so exaggerated (well the tail is so short now). But I think the ZX-14 rear fender looks fine and not detracting at all.
Paul, could you post a pic of how you do your bungee? I tried to hook it on the square tube and reflectors but it was so tight it was literally warping the body, Granted, the bungees were new and I know they slack up a bit. But geesh, I certainly wasn't going to take a chance on damaging my body/paint for it.

For Vic:
Bike's in shop or I'd take some pix for you; but here is a couple of pix from 2+ years ago that show the net attachment. I use 4 hooks, one at each corner of the net, and it is a large net; no seat cowl of course; and I can stuff a lot of volume under the net. In these little pix the plastic hooks are a perfect fit for the square rails up front as the hooks snap right over the rails. the rear hooks are over the reflector tabs behind the reflector; pushed through and pulled back (if that makes sense) for a tight fit; in daily use, I never remove these hooks; just unsnapping the front hooks or pulling up the net and stuffing things under the net before resnapping the front hooks.
Careful application of hooks to the reflectors puts the net cord between the body work and the hook for no scratches; the rear of the net fits nicely into the small space between the seat and the tailpiece sort of sealing off the rear of the netting.
I always travel with the netting and my walking stick affixed to the rear seat; hiking stick is collapsable and fits tightly alongside seat under and through netting (again, no scratches by going over netting where the body work would contact the stick).
And yes, Euro-hook conversion is a neat solution to the problem if you want spend a few bucks.
Cheers!
