I contacted Kawasaki parts shop in Japan and they sent me some info. I haven't looked at it closely but the hook alone costs $25! I will analyze the info bit more and decide what I want to do with it. Thank you all for your feedback!

Hi OldMan
Sorry for the delay. Royal Mail do a parcel service to the USA.
Takes five to seven days, it is tracked and has to be signed for.
Cost is about fourteen pounds, approx. twenty-two dollars.

When I first got my 2012. I was stunned there were no straps to bungee cord on anything.
I just took some 1 inch nylon strapping. Sewed them into a loop and looped around the subframe and let them stick out under the seet.

No hard hooks. Perfect for strapping on. and if not needed just don't pull them out from under the seat.

yeah, me too: how am I going to carry anything ?

I took a slightly lazier approach. I got some heavy duty double sided velcro strips: hooks on one side loops on the other. I threaded these around the subframe and aligned them to self grip. 2 on each side that stick out about 1.5 inches under the seat. Not too obtrusive.

Works like a charm. Cheap, removable 'no-cut' bungee points.

I've noticed those seat hooks in the Aerostitch Catalogue.. I wouldn't trust those to hold my laptop + other gear securely...

Hi kwakamax,

thank you the price. Actually I decided to go with a different approach. I found this in Japan.. I really liked it even though it was bit pricy (rear rack + the shorter rear cover), I decided to go with this set up. THank you!

That Rack looks like "Five Stars Luggage Rack" that Twisted Throttle used to import from Germany.
I always wanted one for my 2003 FZ1.

Hey OM
The parts list is for the grab bar parts only. You can purchase a grab bar in the US, but they do not have the loading hooks.

Keep in mind that if you order the grab bar, you will need to buy/order/locate a small fairing section that goes between the grab bar & the brake light. The one you have now will not fit, I did that on my 2007 and had to order the smaller fairing section, I do not remember how much it was but it came pained to match the bike. If you can't locate it, send me a PM and I will put you in touch with someone who can order it for you.

Hi Seno,

Thank you for your feedback. Yes, I realized that. In fact detailed description of the rear rack includes a warning about North American model. I checked with Kawasaki parts house in Japan and found out the price is something like $70. Thanks to weaker J Yen I am planning to order rack and small fiaring for the next time I visit Japan.
