RE: 2008 ZX14 ECU Flash Questions...
10/02/16 8:24 AM

Got into my E-Mails today and read the below, grrrrrr. And I must say I'm a little Gutted. So I posted my response here linking our conversations.

So now im asking myself what did i really get for the $250 i paid you to flash it?...your flash is doing the exact same thing as the stock ECU did before i sent it to you...should i expect a refund?

Here what you told me months Ago.04/16/16 Time passes and story changes.

Just got my ECU back from Rick...went out for a ride and was very impressed with how smooth throttle response was...no more throttle snatch when you roll off and back on throttle...no more decel pop at all...used to have a loud decel pop at 3700 rpm which is now gone...very impressed...thanks again...

"your flash is doing the exact same thing as the stock ECU did before i sent it to you"

Exactly, This is and was my point when we spoke on the phone. Months afterwards by the way.

The "Flash" is a performance upgrade to throttle response with faster fly opening etc. And it does just that. I have made no claims the flash does anything other than that.

What the flash definitely does not do is fix any issues this bike may have already have mechanically. The fact that you do understand the bike had this issue before is important here. This issue here is not "Flash Related" If you were here I would show you All Flashes made by All Flashers on the computer screen in your problem area.

Also understanding I'm working with you to fix Your bike in the ECU means I'm working really hard to help you with a Non ECU Related issue. And I would continue to do so if you understood the ECU Flash is not your problem.

The ECU is working perfectly, you have no check engine lights and bike starts well. We can not blame the electronics in the bike.

In your description My flash worked better and came with better throttle response and no back fire. So I gave you all the goodies and blended the C"Blast 3700 Rpm area like you asked. I too was hoping this would be your fix to what I believe to be a fuel related issue.

Please understand, I too want you to have it all. It's my hobby and I love to help. I would buy you a new ECU if there was any doubt that I damaged it in any way but a new ECU will not fix your issue.

Start with changing your fuel filter and cleaning your injectors. I would have continued to add fuel in your ECU in that area to help. But my gut feeling is a "Thank You" I will Not receive and a personal attack is on it's way based on your remarks above.

If you like the anyone ECU Flash over another please use your favorite. Sorry my help was not appreciated. I tried.

Im actually Keith not Mike...as for the 3700 rpm miss you say is some other problem other than the ECU why does the other competitors flashed ECU work perfect with no miss whatsoever at the 3700 rpm range?...being i have no knowledge of ECU flashing maybe im missing something...you say you blended the 2 i sent you so shouldnt the miss have been cured in yours if you made both the same?

When i originally got yours back i guess i didnt pay really close attention to having it set exactly on 3700 when i was riding...my fault

I understand its hard to get a flash right without the bike being there...

Your help was appreciated but i still have an ECU that has a dead miss in it that i paid pretty good money hoping it would be fixed by the flash...

I wont comment anymore due to my lack of knowledge...sometimes things dont work right when doing tuning...

I sent you a PM so nothing had to be posted but since you decided to post i commented here...

No it's Not Hard. In fact it's very Easy what we do. The Drama around the Flashing is the hard part. My feeling is and always has been flashers take credit for a bike we did not build. Which is why I tell all.

as for the 3700 rpm miss

Keith this Gen 1 is famous for it's 3700 RPM issue. But without riding your bike I'm not sure there is anything really wrong with it. You just don't like that area and neither do I. None of us for years(2006,2011) like that area. So we try and work around it.

why does the other competitors flashed ECU work perfect with no miss whatsoever at the 3700 rpm range?

Keith I will take your word for that. Computer screen does Not Support your finding which is why it's so hard for me to trouble shoot over the phone. Ride the bike some more, your issue is Not Gone. My bet as time goes by it will get worse.

As for the flash, the backfire is back in your bike. This tells me all. Once again Run the flash that makes you the happiest. I was only trying to further help you, maybe others here will have better luck. My feeling is I will not be able to fix your bike over the net. Sorry.

I sent you a PM so nothing had to be posted but since you decided to post i commented here...

That's fine keith. Everyone who knows me knows I have no secrets. If your not happy with my help Post it.

Rode 200 miles today with the other ECU...no miss at all and hardly no decel pop at all...you fixed the decel pop...im wondering since you blended them to be the same why the miss is still in one of them? Did you change them both to be the exact same?...does the miss being gone still signify that its a fuel filter or injector problem?...doubtfull unless it acts up later correct?
