light battery, aftermarket plastics, no lights, light wheels (zx10 or gsxr wheels) and aftermarket pipe.
I had my bike down in the 460s with a really long swingarm and nitrous (the bottle weighs almost 10 lbs)

I don't want to be 'competitive'. I'm not going to any big time races. I would just be going to a trackday, probably once a month (or every other month).
Then you don't need to do much, just ask Jeffe what he has done to his. He track days a lot, he says.
If you change it too much, trying to make it something it will never do well, you run the risk you won't have something you get much use out of.
I have taken a chance changing mine so much. There has always been a chance I'd ruin a perfectly good bike in my quest for a super-fast sport touring machine. I got lucky, $6,000 extra into it, and I've got a Concours-Express-On-Steroids and it is sick fun to cover 800 miles in a day on her with enough gear to camp for 4 days at the destination.
So I understand. If you really wanna road race a ZX14, as opposed to really wanting to roadrace, go for it.

Nah, I've only done a couple track days. I just happen to live close to some GREAT twisty roads that are very sparsely traveled. The 14 isn't the best track day ride, but, a GREAT all around ride that is FUN to take around the track. I do however like to smoke guys that like to talk crap about the 14 can't handle. Personally, I eventually would like to get a 600-750 for a dedicated track bike.

At a 150 lbs,you dont have to spend money on suspension, just a lttle time setting her up,on mine the rims were my expensive mod,to me they were worth the cost.I had to relearn the bike ,its much smoother in transitions ,less imput required

Well, somebody on the local forum has informed me I CAN'T build a zx14 to roadrace.
So it looks like thats what i'll be doing.

Well...I've NO idea what "race trim" would be for a 14...or any other bike.Guess it's possible.
This:
Track Bike Prep:
1. No plastic.
2. Remove pin feelers on foot pegs.
3. Run distilled water.
4. Run an air cleaner.
5. Start with new tires front and rear.
6. Run synthetic oil.
7. Wear full leathers.
8. Have heath insurance up to date.
9. Prep bike for day; checking/tighten hardware, topping off everything needing liquid or lube.
And this... yeah some "pussies" are not cheap f@cks and also happen to be capable of riding a motorcycle:
Pussies - Need suspension.
Pussies - Need PC.
Pussies - Need more than a spring and a squirt.
Pussies - Needs to hug a poise...
Pussies - Still get in the way all sugareduPC & Pipe Pee Tune Ya'd out the ass.
And then add a lot more and you get one of these,
my gsxr 750 track bike... pics taken at an undisclosed location where the bike was test ridden

The 750 is a world apart of the zx14 and as much as I like my 14,
it really isn't capable of going around a road course as fast as the smaller bikes.
At a more advanced pace the difference would be even more glaring as lap times don't lie.
There's plenty of well set up track-only bikes for sale in the classifieds of most of the racer forums,
deals are to be had for sure- anything from Ninja 250s, Suzuki SVs, Ducatis, and Jap's 600, 750 and 1000 cc bikes.

pics taken at an undisclosed location where the bike was test riddenYou gotta admire that boy's sense of mystery.
Looks good, Mass. I guess it only matters how fast you can go on it but the splash of paint is a nice change of pace. That rear rotor is insane! It looks like it's almost not there.
