My girlfriend calls it something else, selfishness putting her on the back burner.I can't or don't want to help it.I remember in high school.Having Cycle World mags in my notebook reading a roadtest on the new H-2 750.They showed a guy wearing a Superman suit saying if Superman rode a bike this would be it.Then I saw my first Z-1 and melted.I was hooked forever.Damn I LOVE motorcycles.Went to my first drag race in 1974.Two 73 900 Kaws in the final from Pittsburgh Kawasaki. The announcer said welcome to Kawasaki eliminater.I still get chills.Bought a new 75 Z1-b a year later.Taught myself how to ride.Mistake.

Wish I had a KZ1000 after my Z-1 900 to compare.I raced a KZ1000 on the interstate with my 900 and walked away from him.But I had a 83GPz1100 that was very fast. But my 83 GS1100E was faster yet.But this Ninja beats them all.Just can't stop progress.Thought the 98 ZX-11 was the fastest thing there was.Whats 2020 going to bring.Wish I was ten years younger to see that day.ZX-1850?

Congrat's on the milestone! I did it on my '79 GS1000 years ago. Great feeling.
The GS has over 140,000 now (rebuilt the motor after 106,000 miles though it wasn't necessary yet.)
I have a lot of catching up to do with my 14.

Jeez. A ZX 1850!? You couldn't hang on without tie-downs!

Craig, I really miss the good old days. Maybe we could create a thread with pictures of our first "superbikes".

Wish I had a KZ1000 after my Z-1 900 to compare.I raced a KZ1000 on the interstate with my 900 and walked away from him.But I had a 83GPz1100 that was very fast.

I had both, and to me the difference was inprovement in the frame department. A little displacement and bigger carbs, all in all, minor cosmetics. When it comes to racing, in my opinion, rider skill and experience makes the difference. Now, the GPz-1100 is in a class of its own. lol

Congratulations!

In 2020 I'll be 66 years old, and hopefully riding a Tron Light Cycle, lol

In the future we'll be on electric powered bikes. Like it or not.
The future is coming fast. Electric power is gaining. Look at the Tesla sports car for example.
I'd miss the howl of the pipe but imagine the sensation of accelerating with only the wind making a sound. Without hearing the rpm's at high speeds, when to shift could be a new challenge. How would we modify them? What if you install the wrong part?
Instead of holing a piston your bike cross-phases?..... Ahhhhh, the future.

KAK, when I was 14 years old, I remember thinking that by the year 2000 we would have flying cars, lol. But, you might be right. It would be interesting to watch.

Jakub, HERE is the original link of the bike that did it.

I couldnt help notice mention of the 73 Z1, my father bought one brand new in 1973 when they came out and still has it today!! heres some pictures taken of it just three weeks ago. hes thinkin of selling it and his 86 ninja 1000R and grabbing a zx14 after taking mine for a spin haha.

the Z1 is completely original. paint, chrome etc. (except for the 4 into 1 exhaust, and even that is one of a kind - a performance racing engine college back in the 70s had a project to make a set of headers and pipe for kawi's "king of the road" the best performing set won and my father bought them)

And heres the 86 next to my 2010 zx14

I put a chrome 4-1 Hooker headers on my 1975 Z-1b.They were $110 at an auto parts store.Go figure.Drag bars off a H-2 and Kawasaki racing shocks that had green coils. That bike wobbled so bad it was shake the front end.All and a -1 on the countershaft sprocket.Would lift the front end in 3rd.Would only go 128 with that gearing.I wrecked that thing over and over.I was 19 when I bought it.Eddie Lawson said His Muzzy Superbike would wobble so bad it would bend the handlebars.I believe that. They had welded plates on the steering head too.

Wow, that bike looks sharp! Tell your father to sell the 1986 Ninja and keep the Z1-900, lol Next Saturday I'm attending a Motorcycle Vintage Show and hope to see a few of them there.

Here are two pics of my last 1975 Z1 900, with KZ-1000 side covers and mag wheels. Before and after.

Craig, I paid $125.00 for the fist set of expansion chambers (Bill Wirges) for my 750 two stroke triple. I don't think Denco was in business at the time.

They might not of been.I ordered a set of 10.5 to 1 1025 pistons from Denco for my 75 Z-1.I broke the crancase webs.I guess from hitting the crank on the pavement too much. But I couldn't get rings.I remember the old Denco 3x3 top fuel bike that Dale Walker road.3 triple engines in a row.Yikes.Your 1000 looks nice.Bill Wirges is a name from the past like Hooker headers.

Here's my '79 GS1000E. 140,000+ miles. I bought my 14 to semi-retire the GS. I still take it to work now and then and also weekend rides. Bullet-proof is an understatement.

I had a 81,82,83 GS1100E.I thnk the 81 had a square headlight. They all ran low 11 in the 1/4 very torquey bikes. Then I bought a 83 GPz 1100,not so torquey but would run like nuts. They filled the gap when Kawasaki got lazy after the Z=1 period. But all Kawi now.

Craig, I remember Denco triple engine. I think it broke Russ Collins record at the time. I can't find a video of Boris Murray and the bike anywhere.

Denco expansion chambers made more power than Bill Wirges pipes, but they came out much later.

KAK, your GS-1100 is in mint condition. About ten years ago I was visiting a friend in Northampton, Massachusetts, and his neighbor had one. He was also selling a 79 KZ-650.

HMFIC, it wasn't my bike. HERE is the original thread. He did not mention what oil he used.

Craig, here a couple of pics taken in 1975 or 76 of my first 1972 750 triple. One of them was taken at the 1/8 mile dragstrip in my hometown.

HMFIC, I used Castrol GTX 20/50 in my '79 GS1000. The lead mechanic suggested it when I bought the bike new.
Supposed to be "car" oil but I never gave it much thought. It ran great. No clutch issues or anything.
I later (year 2000) switched to Motul 3000 and so far so good. Same for my 14.
