Best is any alarm that will remotely notify you - no need to buy the best - and lojack to activate after you verify not a false alarm. Cops will find your bike in minutes.

Thanks privateer I like the idea of having the key FOB that lets you know that someone is messing with your your bike.

Hey Snuffy-born in Manhattan grew up in Brooklyn. Williamsburg specifically. Right down the street from where Serpico was shot in the face in '71. This 'hood was scary bad for a long time, but now it's crawling with hipsters. It was safer for bikes and lower in crime a few years back after the crack attack was over; people just didn't mess around here. Now with these kids who have an iphone, a wallet full of credit cards and $200 in party money in their pockets it's become the perfect place for petty thieves and wallet jackers to commute to. The hipster kids flaunt their money, have no street smarts, and their skinny jeans seem to cut of the blood flow to their brains. It's a thug's paradise, basically and crime has gone up again.
So I worry more about the bike these days than I did when people were literally getting shot right next to it. This posting has gotten me back into the mode of looking for a good alarm. I'm sorry that people came looking for your bike but your sharing of the story is a good reminder to us all. Thanks
