Tires is one area I don't mess around with, when they start to run out of tread I spoon another one on pronto. I keep a new spare rear tire around just for emergencies.

hhhahhahahahaha!!! I'll quit eating if that's the only way I can keep my bikes up. No sir, I'm not slowing down because of the economy. I think I have close to 4000 miles on this season. I have more riding time than ever....which means I'm earning less--unfortunately. Ah well.
The financial uncertainty makes it hard to feel right about enjoying things like bikes. There's other stuff that needs attending to.

This is so true IMOP its still the best overall street bike money can buy.
Wow...never thought I'd ever hear those words coming from you willidx.....I'm in shock.......medic, medic......
I have always stated the zx14 is the best overall street bike. Its cheap, fast, comfortable, turns good for a550lb bike and dead reliable. I can't think of any other bike that can do as many thing as well as a zx14 at any price. No it won't stop like a zx10 or turn like a CBR or out accelerate a BMW S1000rr but those three bikes suck to ride on the street compared to a zx14. I won't ride one again simply because I rarely do any street ridding anymore so it would be pointless to own one.

This forum might not be the most popular, but neither is the 14. I like it that way, and find that 95% of all the posts made here are from level headed people who are here only because they love to discuss their bikes. I have only driven by 5-6 busa's and maybe 4-5 14's in the last two years in my neck of the woods which I like as well.
If you filter out the watered down twitter like BS on most other forums I bet it wouldn't add up to the quality posts I see here day after day... just my .02

Fr8flyer: i bought the zx 14 because I was interested in a fast sport touring bike. I had ridden a busa but never the 14. Everything i read said the ZX14 would make a more comfortable bike for my mission.
I bought the 14 because I wanted a bike different from the choppers and cruisers I've had.
As a designer the aesthetics of the 14 appealed to me.
I enjoy large displacement engines and prefer heavier bikes.
I'm not a canyon carver; I like to ride at sustained high speed.
Since I don't like buzzy, vibey bikes, the 14's twin engine balancers were a major selling point.
For what I wanted to do with it, I knew the 14 would be an easy customization project.
So far, I've enjoyed making parts for and riding the big Ninja.
I've had no problems with it and I'm glad I bought it.
