OK. Everyone-- it was all a hoax. There is no S1000rr. Kruz was pulling your leg. it was my fault. I put him up to it. I don't plan to get a ZX-10 any time real soon either. That just came up on the other thread by luck. Willid mentioned a great price on a ZX-10 so I went with the story. (that really is agood price though. I got my eye on it -- no joke!)

It would have been fun to string this out for a couple pages or how ever long it lasted before someone started demanding pics.

Yup it was all a big hoax, I got all the bikes I can use right now. We we're hoping to rattle Mass' cage a bit and bring him out of early retirement.

Thanks for taking the hit on this for me Rook but it was my idea, you just agreed to go along with it. Hopefully no harm done to anyone.

^^Yeah, I was getting a little scared duran might have been pushed over the edge on a new bike and would sell his 14 to get it....or maybe someone else would be coaxed into going out and buying a bike all because of a joke. It would have been fun to blow the story up bigger and bigger to see how long it would take someone to call BS on us. I was really hoping you would tell everyone you looped the Beemer over in the parking lot at Starbuck's...and maybe took out a couple Harlies along with it!

Thats ok Rook the zx10 would have been a mistake for 8200 when you could have a 08 cbr1K for below 7k try 6994

Yea, I really wanted to put that in the story Rook but it was starting to get out of hand so we had no choice but to pull the plug. We don't want to be the boy that cried wolf!

BTW, I'm seeing new S1000RR's advertised in the mid to high 13's on Cycle Trader. Wait til next December and you might be able to pick one up for about 10 grand.

Thats ok Rook the zx10 would have been a mistake for 8200 when you could have a 08 cbr1K for below 7k try 6994

Dang, at that price Rook it might be worth picking one up, they can't be burning that much oil!

I'm soooooooooooo disappointed in you, Kruz ...............

Disappointed cause I'm not really getting the Beemer or disappointed cause I made up the story? If the latter, it was all meant in fun Lucky.

a high dollar one.....

We better stop now before Romans goes and does sumthin he might regret later....hey , he can always pay for it with some of these.....

Kruz, my post was tongue-in-cheek, defined as "not meant to be taken seriously, but its sarcasm is subtle."
Guess the sarcasm was TOO subtle. LOL!

As much as I love the 14,, I would pick up one of these in a heartbeat,, in fact I would have one by now, the only thing stopping me is my passenger which would not be too excited riding with me.

^^It might win me over. I'm holding back. My feeling is that it will be the weakest literbike for the street powerwise. It has a short stroke and large bore which is known to produce poor bottom end performance and you can certainly see this if you look at midrange in the dyno charts. The square bore/stroke provides exceptional top end, however. It may be unstoppable on the track but so far as I know, that has not yet proven to be the case. All of the literbikes are extremely close in racing performance, even in the hands of seasoned pros.

Reviewers don't seem to be reporting that the S1000 feels like a giant killer. If it were all that much better, it would be apparent without doing back to back comparos. All I hear is it is a competitive bike. The traction control/wheelie inhibitor sounds very awkward and it is a good thing that it can be switched off. I would not want to have my power cut in a corner and then have it come back on unexpectedly.

heheheh hoho haha. My fellow busa boys are claiming they can't tell which one of these is the busa and which is the S1000. My ear tells me the the high pitch is up front and that is most certainly the literbike. If anything, the S1000 might well be the power to weight winner for straightline performance. I don't know how this race started, but if it was from a roll on, that is no big deal. Literbikes have had us in that department for a couple years now.

LOL WTF I never thought I would see the day when a BMW would out run a Busa in a straightline. Don't get me wrong I had no doubt it would be quicker than a Busa or ZX14 but to see it is still shocking/funny

I'm still hanging on by a thread of skepticism. Yes, drag racing on the street does often happen in the dark of night, yes a busa headlight probably is brighter than what might be put on a liter bike, yes a liter bike would be higher pitched (also sounds louder so I doubt the pipe is stock). We still don't know what kind of bike either was or if the race started from a roll on or a launch and we don't know if the whole thing was just an elaborate hoax. Time will tell, though.

There is another vid of the same "S1000" headlight beating a gixxer 1000 headlight by about the same amount as the busa. If there is a new literbike that can beat a hyperbike in a legitamate drag race, there is going to be some big shaking up happening on the strip and all over the place.

I believe the 183 rwhp. I don't think the S1000 has anything special down low and midrange is kind of sucky. I don't see how it could be a great drag bike. With some gearing changes, I would imagine it would be easier to attain the 200 mph mark with all that hp and low weight. It will be interesting to see who attempts that.

No worries, it's not going to be a great drag bike Rook.

Well you might be right about the weak mid range power at least when compared to the 08 CBR I bet it will match the others 1000 in mid range power. If this article is right the bike will do 189 it also holds a 5mph advantage through the 1/4 over the Honda thats huge. So in the end 20 peak Hp is not that big of a deal most of the time in fact the Honda holds a 10 hp advantge over the BMW at some parts of the rpm range.Get the Honda to rev to 14k and I bet it will make more peak HP. BMW better enjoy its time in the sun becuse I think with a few tweaks to the Jap bikes and few bucks added to the MSRP the boys at BMW are going to be in trouble.

BMW vs CBR
