Blue, if you run you bike in first gear when it is on the stand (as if to oil the chain), is it smooth or does the chain slap up and down ? The reason I'm asking is, I installed 16F/43R on a friends zx-14. It was no where near as smooth as my 17F/45R. The front sprocket was from Kawi and did have the insulation . This was just a observation. There may have been other factors at play here. Just curios what your chain does while running on the stand ?

I like the idea of one tooth lower in the front. This bike is frustrating around town you know let out the clutch a little seems a little slow then starts to rev and its going 50 and time to shut down. Not even through 1st. I have to go outside city limits to have some fun. Then today I was out for a ride temps in mid eighties should have less power right. The bike wheelies in first from 6k rpm power surge so if its geared down there will be more wheelie problems. Doesn't seem like there is an easy answer. Just too much mid range power, no that's ridiculous can't have too much power. The problem is the front wheel won't stay down. Can't even go through a couple gears without going over 100 in just a few seconds what fun is that. Should have one of those little old RD350 Yamahas for a town bike.

Actually, around town here,I take it easier.45,55,35,....25! So I stick to the limits."Out There",well that's a different story.Mine spools up just fine actually.Plenty of kick.I don't care about whether a Busa spools quicker-If it does,it isn't enough to bother me really.I'm very happy with my bike.Just downshift and hit it.She's got all I need. The pull I get from a 16T is virtually perfect for me.It'll pop up if I want.I'm not so desirous of that after getting a 75 mph tankslapper on my old 12R!.

Well in my case,on my 12r-it happened so fast-there was NO warning,NO time to react at all. Then just like that,it straightened back out(Thank God,seriously)(thought I broke the frontend it slapped so hard-I mean, all the way to the stops SEVERAL times).Had it slapped maybe one more time,my hands would have been completely off the grips. That may have been what saved it actually.I usually keep a light touch on my bars-but that morning,I wasn't thinking about anything in particular, just powering out of a left uphill sweeper(passing a Big Rig).Bet that guy was laughing his a@% off!!.The road was very cold-probably lifted the front end just enough to cause a slip from the tire there.Needless to say,I gained a new respect for applying power in the cold(or otherwise as well). But haven't had any probs with my 14.But I sure don't forget THAT morning.I try to remember to keep my weight forward when powering out of curves and such nowadays!!!BIG wake-up call(I was doing about 75,maybe 80.

My busa didn't rev any quicker stock than my 14...neither free-revving or under acceleration. But with the full system now I think it does......the full system lets it rev noticeably quicker just sitting in neutral. In fact that was the first thing that jumped out at me when I started it after the install.

^^That is one possibility among several. Higher compression, lower gearing and less restricted exhaust (stock) are a couple others.
damn this thread is so old I actually went out and bought a busa since I posted on it. Yeah, The busa does turn faster in neutral. Under load, I do not see or feel any difference. Put a full system on your 14 and it will zing up in N quicker than a stock busa---if that will float your boat. (kinda floats mine a little bit every now and then )

If all are equal in mass, meaning, light parts, then ['spinup'] would be who flows better = The HEAD is your power to flow ratio if both heads were equal cc, equal valves, cams, etc. Kind of narrows it down back to speed vs. time? Then you know who spins faster is the getherdone faster event of the port flow.
That's how I see it.
