What Hub's getting at is there's no timing restriction in the stock 6th gear map. Lower gears, the ECU is retarding timing to save you from crashing but it restricts power too.

What I'm getting at is the remote aftermarket sets a code and you're locked in 6th gear TRE = Trick Reproduces Error.

Where the gear sensor shows resistances for each gear, thus the aftermarket hookup captures those to the numbers of which gear it's in. Thus the input is captured into the aftermarket sensor, but sends nothing and/or an out of spec resistance number to the ECU and sets the timing from analog to digital.

In other words, say an old Harley VOES would send in 10-40-55° as the timing. Disconnected, it would send in 10 and 55°, thus the hot seat of the pants response. Vacuum was the analog input, and rpm changed from retard to advanced to a digital input.

Analog being many, digital being one. So if you do hookup the aftermarket off the crank sensor's connectors, my thinking says it has to code and you'll love the digital hit: but not FULL Power being a limp either changes the advance and/or shrinks the injector feed 'to save the engine from damage.'

Me too. Try it and you'll find out. I'm pretty sure an aftermarket gear indicator can work without touching your timing. The OEM gear indicator will be working at the same time You don't have to use TRE mode and you don't even have to have one with TRE mode as far as I know. ...but I never tried one. Saw plenty of videos with bikes that had the Healtech gear position display.

I had to look up TRE (Timing Retard Eliminator) Readers;
Makes ECU think it's in 6th gear, regardless of what gear it's in.
