I've had my house and car ins at farm bureau in Tn for 36 yrs and their rates are great. But ask their agent (and older women) about insuring my 14 she ask was it one of those rockets? I ask what's a rocket? She stuttered and finally said a crotch rocket. I ask how can you tell if it is one? She said the mufflers would be hi an you lean forward on the bike. I got a lot of laughs but in the end she said NO! So I went with Proggressive.
Only bought liability.$160 yr.

45yo, married, no violations, homeowner. zx14 & R6. Full coverage on the 2007 14, just liability on the 2000 R6.
Includes $3K of accessory coverage.
$369/yr paid in full.
Progressive.
Discounts given for Home Owner(-$141), even though I don't insure my house with them, Multi-Vehicle(-$71), Claim Free(-$23).
Not bad, if they pay when it's needed.

Hopefully, I'll never find out.

Rates heavily depend on your zip code. I live in the stix, upstate NY. When I lived in CT the rates were triple.

progressive sucks they charge me 200 more a year for my CBR than they did for my zx14. I carry a 250 deductible during the season and drop my insurance in the winter. So in all they get about 350 bucks out of me a year for insurance damn crooks

Resurrecting an old insurance thread & may sound like marketing, but WTH, you decide for yourself if you think you might be paying too much for insurance...I live in Galveston County, TX (better rates area than Houston, probably worse than SD). I was ZX-14 hunting until I got an insurance quote from Progressive (my previous carrier on my current 3 bikes) of $1800+/yr on just the ZX! I was thinking that '01 Bandit just might stick around for a while.

Long story short, I posted on the web for a quote & this guy Dan Herrera @ TWFG Insurance called me back the next a.m. (832.364.6630...someone in this thread wanted #s); I think TWFG is what you call an independent agent, but he spent about 20 minutes getting my data, shopped me & got me <$800/yr for full coverage on all 3 of my bikes (& they are all beasts!); he (says he) covers over 1/2 the states in the U.S., but I can vouch he is a good guy to talk to that knows his (insurance) sh!+. Sadly, I think he rides, but he was not on board when I told he needed to get hisself a 14 :).

Anyway, heads up for anyone that finds ZX insurance cost prohibitive like I did...end result was a new ZX for me & more $ for mods.

Living in Virginia Beach kicks it up. 40 yrs old 08 zx14,09 r6 , 05 honda shadow aero 750. First two are mine last is my wifes. Progressive was 1000 a yr for all 3 full coverage $500 deductible. Home owner no tickets max points on both of our licenses, MSF course credit scores both over 780. They were the cheapest no one came within $600 of them. Was thinking of dropping to comprehensive would lower it to $530 a year. I ride fast but not really reckless, well I guess fast is reckless LOL. I just feel that as soon as I drop collision something will happen. Just need a better rate I live 6mi from work my wife 15mi from work. I guess it all goes back to location, location, location. I should have started an insurance company would be wealthy beyond belief preying on peoples insecurity. Gotta love capitalism.

Good question Bean! I live in a helmet free state, and I've never been asked by insurance whether I wear a helmet or not

just wondering as it aint possible to ride here without a Helmet ! do the Insurance companies in States where you don't have too wear one do they ask ya if you use a Helmet or not ? Ya know with Liability etc. one would think it would be a Large deciding factor for premiums ?

Here, in Washington State, we are required to wear helmets... but not to have insurance.

By the way, the State Farm cost I quoted, $386, is full coverage with high limits like 100,000 liability, collision,
comprehensive, etc. and it is year-round, so if someone breaks into the garage in the dead of winter and steals my reservoir socks, it is covered.
