Hey there was a guy in here spamm....I mean advertising radar jammers. Maybe I should look him up.
Check the forums for the "best" jammer out there and get one. There used to be so much talk about the best radar detectors but I don't hear what lazar jammer gets the highest praise. They have been out for at least 5-6 years.

There used to be that one guy, "sktjkyl" on this forum and he was really into his lazar jammer. He said it saved him all the time. I tried getting in contact with him on facebook for a longterm review but no answer. Hope he didn't get busted.

The way I see it, you could get overconfident with a jammer the same way you might without. If start to go fast enough all the time, you might get ticketed for driving too fast for conditions which is a 6 point violation here in WI. They don't need laser or radar evidence. They are supposed to be able to estimate speed off of visual.

Guys - and I know Rook does this - go to the track 3-4 times a year .

"did this." It gets awfully expensive but stress free and a lot safer all around. For the speeder on a budget, it's the street or nuthin, unfortunately. If you loose, you loose big. I'd much prefer the track if I had an extra $1500/year to do it...and then watch that figure double or triple if you start to really get into it. They don't call it the "track pipe" for nuthin.

Vic, if Road America was close to me I'd go there. That front straight on a 14 would have to sober me up.

That's 50 miles away from me. LOL, I wandered through some co highways once and ended up there by accident! I really should get on that track some day soon.

I was joking about the spammer.... i remember some douche spamming something about protecting yourself or whatever bs.

Do they work? I don't know. I used to use radar detectors in my cars. For the most part it seemed like if the radar picked up something it was too late. As others have said, laser detectors don't really make any sense at all the beams are so focused.

yeah laser detectors just tell you you've been hit which is probably not going to be of much use unless you plan to run. The jammers would be helpful for ordinary speeding if they work but I still think for doing over 100, there's a good chance an officer will come after you even without laser evidence.

I love my zx but have actually put some thought into trading it on another cruiser. Only reason is you really cant use the power of this bike and if you do all I am worried about is getting a ticket and the money-insurance increases it will cost me. I have a Yamaha stratoliner and I just don't feel like hammering it like I do on the zx. On the cruiser I just enjoy the ride. If you want to go fast it will (not zx fast) but full out for over 800lb bike 125 is enough. I had a Triumph rocket 3 and have found some used ones and a big kawi Vulcan 2000. My zx is paid for and I really do love it. Probably a better mix is to have a cruiser and a sport bike but to just drive reasonably and be very careful about when to open her up.

Here in Philly the city cops are pretty cool (most of them), city police have to be trained to stop you for speeding and most arent so when they do stop you for speeding its usually a careless driving ticket instead
Of a the reckless driving ticket (reckless here is automatic license suspension). Now the state police here are the worst. They stop you for speeding and not only are they giving you a speeding ticket with 4 or 5 pts if not an automatic suspension but they can take your bike as well. Pa is different only cause you cant get arrested for speeding but hundreds of dollars in fines and a year suspension of license is possible. Granted its not too many places in Philly to really open her up.. so we usually goto our neighboring state DE and open to have a good time. Police are minimum and speed limit is 65 on some hwys. I had a female friend arrested in South Caroline for doing 120mph on her bike..(every1 now calls her 120 Lol) we had to bail her and her bike out!!!

Past year I had tried a couple of times to renew my passport on line,I get so far and get rejected, with no explanation ,went into the passport office turns out I had a criminal charge against me for speeding in Georgia,so they wouldn't renew it.charge was over 10 years ago and I hve never had any problems renewing drivers liscence.

I have found that if you pull over right away, tell them the Wife doesn't let you ride much, and you were showing off, they have mercy on you. I've been popped at over a hundo a few times, and told they could impound my bike and arrest me, but they never have.

Once I took my ZZR1200 back to the Dealer after a few months to trade it in on a slower bike for the same reason. They didn't want to give me anything for it, so I saved my money for Lawyers and dealt with it.

Look way out there, and use your rear brake mostly if you see one. The front end diving gives you away.
I've started pulling over before they put the gun down and hit the lights. They respect that.

Great advice Jimmy. Here's the thing, we all know the law and are choosing to break it. Your best chance for some mercy is to put your tail between your legs and hope the officers in a good mood. Don't blame the officer, if it was your job to pull someone over for breaking the law you'd pull yourself over for doing 100+ too. No way you can tell me "oh I'd be the cool cop."

Don't run. For the love of God don't fucking run. You run you're really fucked.

unless you are sure you can get away. A cop lit me up one time and started pulling onto the road but he was on the other side of the expressway with a cement wall between us. I was a racing a Corvette. We slowed down to about 100 and kept going. If a cop isn't behind me, how the hell do I know he's pulling me over? LOL--I guess we were lucky there were no other cops in the immediate vicinity. Generally speaking, the expressway is about the worst place to speed. Great road conditions but lots of cops who can see you from a long way away.

One thing I learned a LONG time ago, you can sometimes outrun the officer but you can't outrun the radio!!! If they have buddies in the area they are going to swarm! Police officers love a good chase!

Was watching Worlds Dumbest a few weeks ago and watched an Einstein try to outrun an officer on what looked like a 600. The rider was doing fairly well until he tried to take a shortcut thru a field and ran in to a pond, that didn't end too well for him. Bike was completely under water, you could see a few bubbles coming up, rider almost drowned because of helmet. What an idiot!

Jammers and detectors are IMHO a big waste of money. Radar and lazer technology is so advanced now that by the time you get a warning you're already clocked! Jammers are hit and miss most of the time and in some states VERY illegal, huge fine if you get caught with one.

In some cities they have detectors at intersections which fire and ambulance crews use to change the traffic lights to facilitate their movement thru traffic. Several years ago someone was selling the transmitters which you could put in your vehicle to change the lights, they got caught and it was BIG bucks to get out of jail. The people that bought the transmitters were cautioned that if they were caught using them, get ready, it was going to hurt their wallet a LOT!

Every time we twist the tail on our dragons we run the risk of getting caught, is it worth it, HELL YES it is!!!

What is disappointing is to approach 90 and feel that two-stroke-like jet thrust begin around that speed ... and to know that you can't enjoy that without risking big penalties. (unless you go to a track of course)

I personally do not know of this 90+ on-rush, have only heard of such tales

Here's what works for me. I don't haul ass down every straight. I just don't slow down for the corners. I NEVER hang off on the street, that's like a flashing light for the cops. I maintain a sporty pace, admittedly over the limit but reasonable, and just ride swooping lines through the turns. I've gone past cops sitting on the shoulder and not had them bat an eye at me. They are looking for Marquez Jr on his Gixxer hanging off like a barnacle, not some dude just...* gasp* sitting on his bike.

If I could just pee my pants to get out of a ticket, I'd do it!

Well, I think.

It might be easier to pee your pants riding an EX500 (embarrassed!)

I'd poop in my pants to get out of a ticket that was for a serious enough offense. With my luck i'd prolly get a ticket for that too.

We're lucky most of the time here because we don't have points taken off or our licenses suspended. But did spend a Sunday in jail and hefty fine for 200 kmh. Speeding doesn't carry any weight in our courts so they charge you with reckless and negligent riding. The fine converted is around 350 usd. So not bad I suppose compared to what I read here with you guys. Also if you are in a crowd going fast they don't bother you as they can't fine anyone as they can't say who was doing what speed.

My last ticket was in 2005 on my ZX10R. I crested an on ramp on the back tire, and didn't notice the police coming over the overpass right in behind me. He pulled me over PISSED OFF! Gave me a lecture about how he has worked to many bike fatalities to let that slide. I believe the ticket was excessive acceleration.

It depends on what the officer wants to call the offense in Wisconsin. I got +35 over the limit which is 15 days revoked license and 600 dollar ticket. I was doing 110. If they call it reckless driving or something like that, the penalty may be more severe.

I fought my last 3 tickets, all in California, all some combination of speeding and/or passing on a double yellow, fine amounts from $300 to $500, by doing what's called a Trial by Declaration. Essentially, once you get your "courtesy notice" in the mail with the fine amount, you write a check for that amount, send that in with a letter/form explaining why in fact you are innocent, and wait for 2 months or so. Then, presto, you get your money back and no points on the record. Now, either I am one hell of a writer on par with Stephen King, orrrrrrrrr mmmmmmaybe the officers are too busy or lazy or illiterate to write their version of events. Allegedly, even if you lose your trial by declaration, you can still request a regular trial. Carry on.

It seems that Florida is the real Nazi-like police state of the lower 48 and that's why I use the V1 and laser veil!

The following is quoted from click here

The penalties available for reckless driving in Florida will depend on the number of prior offenses and the existence of property damage or personal injury.

A first offense in Florida (no bodily injury or property damage) is classified as a second degree misdemeanor, with penalties of up to 90 days in jail or 6 months of probation, and a $500 fine. A second or subsequent offense for reckless driving is also a second degree misdemeanor, but carries a maximum penalty of up to 6 months in jail and up to a $1,000 fine.

Reckless driving penalties increase substantially where there is property damage or bodily injury. If the incident causes property damage or non-serious injury, the offense is defined as a first degree misdemeanor, with penalties of up to 1 year in jail or 12 months of probation, and a $1,000 fine.

If there is serious bodily injury, Florida law upgrades the offense to a third degree felony, with penalties of up to 5 years in prison or 5 years probation, and a $5,000 fine.

Here's an example of what the state of Florida considers reckless driving:

Martinez v. State, 692 So. 2d 199 (Fla. 3d DCA 1997) (driving 40 miles per hour over the speed limit, and speeding on a curved section of road while passing another vehicle in a no-passing zone);

This would have probably gotten me a reckless driving ticket:

Bump glad to see another positive experience with LEOs that shows they aren't out there just to get thrills harassing sport bike riders. Like you say, it doesn't mean you got the gold key to the crapper but you got a break this time, and that's all that matters today.
