Whew Wolfy, that's a tough one. I think the best answer I can give at this point is that it totally depends on how I'm gonna ride on a given day. I think my HP4 is easier to go fast on in the really tight twisty's, however, anything less than that...our beloved is still my favorite.
I let Danny's roommate, well, I should actually say ex-roommate (girlfriend is pregnant, ooops)ride my 14 today and the issue is settled on who wins the drag race. We did a roll-on from 3rd gear at about 80mph, he steadily pulled away, I'm not sayin he just ran away from me but it was steady. THEN we did one from sitting still with about the same results, I stayed with him and actually may have had him by a bit until about 3rd gear then it was sayonara again. We are both decent riders so I don't think there's anything left to question.
Final statement: Kawasaki ZX-14R = Baaaad boy!!!

I also have both (13 S1000, not hp4), and Personally, I think the s1000 "feels" faster and like it pulls harder, although I have never loaned a friend one of them and raced

Dead stop drag race though, obviously the torquey 14 leaps off the line

Oh I don't think there's any question it "Feels" faster with it's overall smaller platform and make no mistake...it's a freaking rocket!! Our 14s are just soooo much smoother they're truly very deceptive. It's like Keith said yesterday, that things crazy, it's just so freaking smooth, you look up and your freaking doing 150!!! He was actually one of my buddies that was absolutely sure that my HP4 would out run my 14. Now, he NEVER said out perform in the twisty's just in a flat out run. The one thing I've noticed though is that EVERYONE that has said it would outrun my 14R...has never ridden a 14R!! LOL
One other thing, here again, Equal Riders, the 14R is VERY good in the twisty's too. In the tight twisty's I kept the pressure on and believe if we'd been on a track I coulda put a move or two on his ass! LOL However, tight turns with a 1/4 mile straight between them, whew, I had to stay on my toes to keep any pressure on and when he was behind I could feel him breathing down my neck before the next turn. GAWD IT WAS FUN!!!!
