That jacket has been the best one. It's old...at least since 2004.I did a bit of customizing on it...lately...for cold weather,I FINALLY got smart and sewed a balaclava onto the inside collar at the back. It's a full balaclava...goes over the head and ears, and down in front on my upper chest. When I'm not needing it,it just flips back over the collar,no muss no fuss.Put a couple of snaps on it inside,so it can be snapped down and flat inside the jacket,no binding when I'm not using it.Don't know WHY they didn't sell it with one to begin with.Made a world of difference.Only took me 5 years to do it!Plus, last year,I customized the collar and sewed in some velcro on the strap, and further back along the collar.Snugs right up.Very nice.
Wearing my Harley leather pants under those you see there. Those are Oakley "puffy pants"...that's what they're called.Snow gear actually.Very good at helping insulate the legs.No protection...just a comfort thing.I customized those as well....sewed in some longer straps for the bottom so they'd cinch up nice and snug. And a couple of large buttons on the calf along with two elastic bands for the buttons to slide into.Tightens the calf material up nicely.
That jacket as an abundance of armor in it...and has a BUNCH of cool features to fine tune the fit.Don't think they even make that one anymore.I can say, when I crashed(which I did in 07)with it...it completely saved my skin. Not a speck of rash,or bruising.
Got like four big pockets on it.A back pocket(you can see that)and a small forearm pocket on the left arm that holds my garage door opener perfectly.Plus...there's two big inside pockets as well.Waist adjustment straps.Velcro AND nice zippers on all pockets.Inside liner which is the bomb...fully removable as well for warm riding. It's a Riema CYCLOAK...might still be a few out there somewhere. If you could find one,it'd be worth getting. There's also a stretchy elastic hold-down strap at the rear, under the pocket.Goes between your legs and snaps into the bottom front.Keeps the jacket from blowing up in the back and helps keep your body heat in really well.It IS a very cool jacket. My exclusive piece of gear. And it doesn't weigh a ton either.Very flexible, kevlar mesh outer, but woven tight so you don't get any rain or cold air coming through it.Vented as well.I've ridden in 40 degree temps..so that's like -10 degrees.Warm as can be.Throw on those 'warmgear' heated gloves, and my heated pant liners...shweet!No prob cruising at low temps outside.Very nice. While the other guys are stowing their Harleys away...I'm still railin.Only until the ice begins to hit.Then...that's all she wrote. Not worth the risk. There is a different 'atmosphere' out there riding when the temps drop, and Winter is startin to grab ahold.Snow falling...riding...it's quite bitchen really.Just gotta know when to stop.So far, been fortunate. No wrecks.Couple of slides...but no getoffs(yet)
