Try Ron Ayers.com for OEM parts. Shows still available.

Also check out doubleD's panniers;
I think doubleD used Givi panniers and mounts
This isn't the thread that he showed a mod of the mounts,
to get them away from the OEM pipes, but with smaller
3rd party pipes, the mod isn't needed.

I guess you've seen this one already;

Yeah, I think I'd looked that up too, happens so often, dead links.

I thought though that I was able to find a path to getting it
sorted out. I'll have to look again.
I also thought I noted that the subframe of DD'S bike had
to be drilled for a mounting bold, though I could be wrong on that.
I'm not sure that how much that would weaken the subframe if
indeed it does need to be drilled, under heavy loading,
though a clamp could be fabricate to get around the issue if
it were an issue.

There was a hole drilled in the rail of the Gen1. It was fitted with a threaded sleeve. I think this was to fasten the rectifier bracket? I don't think another hole would hurt.

I removed the tail subframe rails from my Gen1. I wouldn't carry a passenger like that. Carrying luggage on the tail, I would also want the rails in there. I wouldn't worry about another bolthole much though although I'd prefer a bracket to another hole. I was going to mount my nitrous bottles from the top rail with a bracket instead of drilling a hole. Ha-ha, I said "A hole!"

I hate the facebook page of zx14, zx14r, zx1441. No one has anyway to search for old threads for answers. I post pages from here thinking they will look for more answers, but never do. I do everything on a laptop-no smartphone. My pic load quick. All people do is ask a question? On our website owners have been posting about side and top luggage for over 15 years.
Finding SW-motech racks seem impossible now. I think they are made in Poland.
eBay lists Givi racks PLX446 for V35 Givi cases. They mount differently in the rear. Made for the ZX1400 European model with the passenger grab handle showing.

The SW-Motech side rack bolts to solid locations. A piece of plastic had to be cut near the rear seat area. My kit came with a "template" and the tail fairing covers your cut.
My Suz SV650 luggage rack carries most of the load at the rear and Kawasaki already gave me threaded holes to mount it. At the front I used 5mm bolts through the frame with nylon nuts. I just checked after 12 yrs everything is still secure.
I just watched youtube dragtimes channel-(Daytona Bike week 2026) that Kawasaki will be bringing back the ZX14r. They want to clear inventory. Maybe they will add throttle by wire and give us cruise control?

I have over 300 photos under my stored cabinet. I wonder how to delete some of them? Probably cannot. I was reading that everything I post on facebook belongs to them and it stays open forever to my friends. I have an aunt who died in 2019 and people wish her "Happy heavenly Birthday" each year. Before I die I will be posting my 28yr old mug and my favorite background photo. On facebook you live forever.
First you locate and secure the rear mounting bolts, then you do the front. I have many pics you want them posted.

I'm no structural engineer, but I believe that threaded sleeve
would be welded to the hole in the tubing, which would probably
be additive to its load bearing. I mention this issue due to lots of
reading in the past on subframe loading, some people will literally try
to haul a 300lb woman as pillion, on Gold Wings, and even smaller bikes,
or load up for the winter on sport tourers like a Ninja1000 or a GSX S100F,
with way too heavy tents, dishwashers, trash compactors lol, etc.
But yea, overall, it's not going to matter for what we do with our
bikes.

Yeah, I guess you're referring to the rails available on some of the
Givi Paniers, yep, definitely appeals to me, to have those grabrails.

...I wouldn't worry about another bolthole much though although I'd prefer a bracket to another hole. I was going to mount my nitrous bottles from the top rail

I need to look into the Nitrous issue, I know it's a big boost, but
nothing about how much boost, engine stress if any, how it's interfaced etc....

The Gross carrying weight for our motorcycle is 386lbs. That is you, your friend and your luggage.
Givi cases has a maximum carrying weight of 22lbs. I weigh every case before leaving on a trip.
If you take the time to read all my posts for the last 12 years, I am thorough and do not take chances with my Bike or my Life.
I make recommendations that worked for me.
I've been traveling by a street-type motorcycle for a longtime.
