I have a box under the seat of my '09 that I do not see in any other pictures, nor can I find it in the service manual. I'm trying to do the under seat install of the PC5, and this is right in the way:
What is it and what do I do with it?
Thanks,
C

Evaporative emissions canister... Your bike is a Cali bike... If you live in Cali, it is illegal to remove it... But...

Heh, I live in New Orleans, and got the bike from a guy in Virginia. Go figure! I hope it's not too hard to get rid of...

Yup part of the emissions equipment. I have this same box on mine (2010) and mine IS NOT a Cali bike - it was bought in Texas...

May not have bought your bike in Cali, BW... but if you have that canister, you have a Cali model.
If you wanna remove it, HERE'S a thread.

Thanks Dogo, very helpful! So, I'm pretty bad at deciphering Hub-speak... What did you end up doing with the red and blue lines from the tank? Should I remove the entire system and do that?
That thread on bikeland says:
Black w/ Blue strip ........ leave open to vent under seat.
Black w/ Green strip ...... remove completely - this hose runs up to
the #3 intake port. Remove hose and install a vacuum cap.
Is that correct? I can just remove the box and take those steps with the lines, leaving the separator and other lines in place? I like the idea of having the emissions thing on there, but I really want that trunk space for my PCV and Speedohealer, and the Autotuner I'm probably going to be getting before too long.
btw - that EDR performance map you posted once upon a time is working very well for my bike - 09, flies out, full Muzzy 4-2-1 system, stock air filter, 89 octane. Still gonna get that Autotune at some point, but she's running very well right now. Many thanks!

I ran lines from both nipples down into the belly. They're the red ones in the pic:
I coulda just capped the red nipple... But what if the tank somehow built enough pressure to blow off the cap? Gas on hot motor? No thanks! I just have to be sure not to overfill my tank. Not an issue on a track only bike that I try to run the minumum amount of gas necessary in. Proper fix would be to braze the red one... That's what was done on my CBR.

^^^ Sounds right to me. ^^^

It's a good spot for all those piggies.

You're welcome... Glad to help!
My ... The WB2 is better than the Autotune... The Autotune only "autotunes"... With the WB2 you can autotune and datalog. Plus, DJ has an AFR gauge available for the WB2 (not for AT-200) and the WB2 can be used independant from a PC5.

I thought the WB2 didn't interface with the PCV... does it just data log and you manually enter the map values into the PCV?

With a CAN cable connecting it to a PC5 and terminator plug in the open CAN port, it autotunes just like the AT-200.

Hmm, the WB2 sounds great, but Amazon has the WB2 at $400, while the AT200 is $208. Not sure data logging is THAT import to me...
I guess I'm not in a big rush, I may just wait a bit to see if I come across a deal I can't pass up on one or the other.

$400? Ouch... Have not been on a shopping spree in a while, but don't remember the price dif being so drastic.

I would only want to get rid of it IF it makes a difference in performance and I've never heard such a thing... I put my PC5 in the left front fairing just under the dash panel where it's nice and cool and dry! And me the entire time thinking I had a TX bike...
Thanks Dogo!

No performance to be gained as long as it is working correctly... I believe it was zxinit that had his fill with fuel and made his bike run like shit... Don't remember why it filled with fuel though.
