Here's the second bike to get the treatment, the ZX-6R. Each bike is going to have a unique position for the battery pack. Wiring is secured here with Velcro tabs at the instrument housing.

Took me 30 seconds to take it all off, maybe two minutes to set it up before the ride as you have to get the detector aimed correctly, leveled and pointing straight down the road.

BTW, R3 has laser but the smoked windscreens pretty much kill that feature.

Very nice, do you get warning via bluetooth/RF into you ear? I would require that so you dont have to look at the warming. The V1 in my 911 always tells me the danger via audible.

No, unfortunately the R3 is not Bluetooth capable, I have a set of earbuds for the audible warning. You are correct, it is impracticable to use the visual warning as your eyes are focused up ahead on the road while the audible warning get's your attention right now!

The R3 can be programmed for distinct warning tones for each radar band and for laser. I set the most predominate Ka band warning for a high pitched whistle that really wakes you up. When I hear it, I instinctively roll off the gas and start braking.

This is not a license to speed at will, I have actually slowed down on the straightaways and pick it back up as I approach a corner. I've found it's much more enjoyable to ride this way, as continuously hauling butt on these back roads can be taxing.

You could easily setup the Valentine 1 this way and use it on your bike, the V1 has excellent performance ratings.

Power pack details, I ordered a spare Uniden DC power cable with the standard RJ-11 plug and soldered the + and - wires to a Traxas Male High Current connector. I simply unplug the Li-Po and recharge on a Traxxas balancing charger, about 15-20 minutes charge time typically.

What you, and all of us, really need is access to the LEO's own LEO vehicle tracking system

... and software that audibly warns you when you're approaching line-of-sight to one them ... so we'd need to include a terrain database in the software

Man, that would be shear bliss, every back road would be your private racetrack....lol!

I'm using a three tier approach here:

1. Slow down on straights, speed up only when a corner is straight ahead.
2. Assume any vehicle up ahead is a LEO and slow accordingly.
3. Radar Detection as a backup of last resort. If LEO is running instant on radar, hopefully there's a rabbit up ahead and will catch some scatter when they shoot him.

Another thing you might do is fight the (next) ticket. I've fought two and won both: 1 running a stop sign, and 2 speeding. Here in FL the tickets say "Note: The ticketing office will appear in court." in big bold letters. Well, that's just a scare tactic: On the 2nd one the officer did not show up. And I was 100% ready to go, too. I have no doubt I would've been found not guilty even if he had shown up. And maybe that's why he didn't show up. So, when the judge called my case, observed that the officer was not in attendance, and stated I was free to go with the ticket cleared ... I wanted to know where I send an invoice for my damn time I was pissed. He was wrong.

First LEO was wrong, too, but he did show up ... and I was found not guilty ... or whatever they call it in traffic court; been a long time.

Now if you're flat out guilty and there's just no defense, then I'm out of ideas ... start working on that LEO car tracking software, I guess.

I have a two tiered strategy: everything you do except the radar detector.

So, when the judge called my case, observed that the officer was not in attendance, and stated I was free to go with the ticket cleared ... I wanted to know where I send an invoice for my damn time I was pissed. He was wrong.

Well how's this, extrap: My wife's attorney didn't show up but I still had to pay my lawyer $500 because he did. That pussy wouldn't even ask the judge to make my X's lawyer cover his fee. He also laughed about how much money he was costing my X---but he quit laughing pretty quick when I reminded him we had nor split assets yet. What a piece of shit he was. Man it sucks getting divorced. Everyone makes you their bitch when you're at your lowest.

Rook, one of my best friends from high school days is going through this right now but he has fair amount of assets and she's cleaning his clock. His lawyer tab is at $40,000 and still climbing with no end in sight.

He made her a fair settlement offer up front, which she should have taken if she were smart; but her attorney got ahold of her and now she's in the hole for big bucks too. It's best to be broke and have nothing but each other, isn't that what love is all about anyway?

I think it's best know if you're good marriage material and if you're not, just don't get married. I look at my situation now and see who I could date. Middle aged divorced women who can't find a husband. Is that a good wife? Would a good wife marry my sorry ass?

These are things I asked myself when I was 30 but for some reason, I ignored what I already knew. Oh well. L&L.

Didn't mean to start a deep philosophical discussion here Rook but you won't know until you try. I always looked at pursuing a desirable woman kinda like going on a job interview, you always want to sell yourself. The undesirable ones, you're too busy running away from to worry about....lol! Think Martha Washington here.

Nothing wrong with dating middle aged divorced women who can't find a husband. Instead of looking for a wife, why not date as many of these ladies as possible. Maybe one will turn out to be 'the one'.

Marriage is overrated.Hi Kruz;)That a new bike there?Beautiful!GL with your radar deals.I had mine mounted on a ball mount attached inside the steering stem.Fit nicely in there, full windscreen view.Had it set so it just peeked above the smoke line on the screen.Horizontally.It did however block the view of the display, which I didn't like too much.

Worked excellently, but I took it off figuring WTH I'll take it easy on the straights and ramp her up on the curves, like you and Rookster.I mean, they can't tag ya in a curve unless you meet at the apex or therabouts. Most curves up here you can see all the way through.I mounted a 120db external speaker alongside the steering stem under there. It was loud. The detector was pretty stealth. You couldn't see it in there from any angle like from an oncoming car or someone passing.Good job with those!I tried the windscreen setup like yours. It didn't want to hold to the screen.GL with that stuff;)

Mine also captured Radar from behind. They do that up here, follow ya.Didn't think they had anything like that, but yep, they can clock ya while they're also moving.I've had em flash their lightbars a few times while they were coming in the other lane.No way could they read my speed just by lookin.

Mine also captured Radar from behind

I doubt any LEOs were ever able to overtake you from the rear on that H2 Greenie...

Yea, I really explored the options carefully before coming up with the solution I did, it had to work on all seven of the sport machines with minimum hassles. RAM Mounts had that articulated ball thingie for the steering stem but it wouldn't work on all the bikes, the ZX-10Rs and the ZX-6R have a steering damper right square on top of the steering stem, so no bueno. I also would have had to figure a way to get the ball thingie attached to the R3 detector. In the end, the rubber suction cups work very well with lots of sticky. Depending on the bike, you have to cock your head a bit to one side or the other to get a clear shot of the tach or speedo; but I'm kinda used to that already from riding a Ducati with it's bullshiite mirrors. They should come with a warning sticker: Object in Mirror is Your Elbow!

Actually, I saw Martha last weekend at McDonalds ordering 3 cheese burgers. I had her beat. I ordered 5 and a large fry. Martha's back in town! I gave her a couple hugs but no way!! Not even because she looks like Marha Washington but because she's a whacko.

why not date as many of these ladies as possible. Maybe one will turn out to be 'the one'.

Maybe. Now all I need is money to date one of them that might be 'the one.' LOL divorced middle aged women aren't looking for a poor man even if they are poor and if they are----watch the hell out! Whacko!!!!!

they can't tag ya in a curve unless you meet at the apex or therabouts. Most curves up here you can see all the way through.

It's happened a couple times to me. I can't think of a corner you can see all the way through around here. Usually 200 feet in summer when the underbrush is full. I don't know if they will get you with radar but I had a trooper turn around and come after me after we passed in a corner. No ticket.

Did anyone ever find Waldo in this pic? He's the guy with the feather duster mustache lurking in the shadows behind the pillar.

I found him but I thought that was Frank Zappa.

Good for ya Greenie, running is a losing proposition, automatic trip to jail if you screw up and get busted, just not worth it. Their radios travel a lot faster then we do.

I have been pulled over many times on a sportbike by a regular LEO and let off with just a warning. One actually thanked me for being courteous and pulling over. Never by Texas DPS though, those guys are real hard arses and will chase no matter how far ahead you are. If they pull you over you are getting a citation!
