Right, so now that the sprocket nut which apparently is made of the finest chocolate is nicely rounding off any suggestions?
How do I get this m8888888er off now?

yep-35mm, OR 1 3/8ths SAE.Gotta get that impact secure on there Toe-Get er started without the slippage.Ya got someone holdin the rear brake, right?Once that socket seats on there(as you're impacting it),DON'T stop the impact gun-keep the power ON..........Even if it aint movin for a few seconds-it will if your gun is strong enough(mine is a 350 lb Kobalt Electric).Washer's completely flat, yes?Counterclockwise, yep.

Oh yeah, the 27mm is rounded off nicely.
Used a breaker bar yesterday, that buggered it, got an impact gun from my buddies shop last night, tried it this morning, now it's rounder than me head.

Gonna pick up the 35mm on my way to work right now, will try again tommorow morning.
Yes, I got the helper w/brakes on, in gear, clutch tied down, washers flat, counterfreakinclockwise, muthajdhjfhdsihfsdfhbsry.......

Everything on my bike seems to be ON. When I did my flies had to drill out 2 of the screws, oh well, I'll try tommorow morn, if that don't get her off, I'll cut into the side of it to relieve the torque and twist it off and throw at my neighbors yappy dog.

They are tight pricks the first time!Toe-you may have better luck IF you put her up on a rear stand(don't know if ya did that)That way the force is straight in,instead of angled like on the kickstand. You can get more force straight in on the nut,but someone should be there to hold the brake AND bike from possibly going over on the other side there. It will move-at least mine did.Bout gave me another heart attack!

Toe, replace that nut once it comes out!

There's always the horor story about removing the front sprocket.

Faaaaack!!
I know, I'll call the shop in the morning and order another, regardless.
I picked up a small torch to heat the beotch up a wee bit before my next attack. having a beotch of a time finding a 35mm deep socket, have been directed to one of the speciality shops, will see what the morrow will bring....

Hey Toe-I used an 1 3/8ths "deep impact socket".Virtually the same size as the 35mm.Just gotta get er seated on that nut straight. Then go for it.I had to kind of lean my body into the impact gun to get enough pressure on the socket. After a couple of "slipoffs" with the socket there, she grabbed ahold and spun right off.Just gotta keep that pressure on there while yer holding the trigger. It WILL come off.You should be able to get the socket at almost any tool/parts store there.I never did find a 35mm.

Sorry, been stupid busy....

So, got the 35mm, heat up the nut,and....nothin'.
I mean we tried 3 successively larger impact guns, with buddy on the brake holding bike, while other buddy braced up against my back while I put all my fat against that gun....and nothin'.
Inpact gun just banged away till the compressor ran outta air, and I couldn't hold the gun against it any longer.
Probably 3 hours tryin'.

Can you freakin' believe this?????
Bugger it, says I, I'm gonna cut that mofo off.
So that's where I'm at right now.
I've made 3 cuts into the side of it yesterday aft, had to go to work.
Won't be able to attack it again till fri, if I don't get called in.
Will order new nut from kawi tommorow.
I found one in the US for $17, but UPS (which is the only way most place's ship parts up here) adds on another $40.
Yeah...that's what I said...

I'm hoping against hope that by Sunday I'm done with this....or, I'm on a plane to Japan to murder the little prick who put it on.

I've never heard of such a thing!!!!!What size impact are ya usin-friggin 10lb?Listen-get down to your local LOWE's-get ya the KOBALT impact(electric)rated at 350-450 ft/lbs.$139.00 dollas.Put that puppy on that nut-fire it up-that friggin nut won't stand a chance on there.Lean into it(like ya did)and don't let up till that sucka spins!.Lefty,loosey-yes?Got to have a big gun that won't "run out of air" while yer blastin away.It takes a few seconds for it to break free. It'll act like it aint doin nothin-then,BLAMMO-off she'll come. But ya can't have a gun that's losin power just when ya need it.This here electric KICKS AZZ.It's a BIG BOY.Got to be FULL PUNCH,no letup till she gives!(even if it takes MORE than a few seconds). Can you still get that 35 on there with the cuts?I say,get the GUN,then go at it again-this time for good.

Your local rental shop will have a 3/4 drive electric gun with a 1/2 reducer if needed. Might cost you 10 bucks a day but it sounds like it may be the ticket

just out of curiosity, what did you use to cut the nut tc? i had to use a pipe wrench to get off one of the shoulder nuts from the rear sprocket when changing it out. that's when i realized that they do let monkeys work on the line at KHI what the price of bananas in japan?

This has been some kinda horror movie script....I can't believe the nut was that hard to get off I just use a cheap Harbor Freight electric impact for all my countershaft swapping. I haven't had the pleasure of pulling one off a 14 yet...but I did my busa and every other swap with either the HB cheapy or a big socket handle, and no probs. Are all the 14 countershaft nuts really that bad?!? I'm hoping maybe Toe just got a factory freak........

Mine wasn't bad-just needed to "stay on it" with gun.It WAS quite tight. But not anything like Toe's.I "tried" a socket with an extension, and my BIG torque wrench.Wasn't gonna break free,I'll tell ya that!So I just broke down and bought the impact. The edges IMO are just too short to get the right leverage on there from the side like that-at least I wasn't gonna break anything tryin to make it work.Someone else here said they did it like that.?
